Roll Call Present: Directors - Crank, Hutchison, Briggs, Rima
Absent: Directors - Glockner
Officials Present: Acting Manager Roeder, Director of
Finance Oman, Attorney June, Engineer
Stevens, Assistant Secretary Geddes
and City Engineer Mattern
The meeting was called to order at 5:10 p.m. by President
Rima.
Introductions Raul Rangel and Bob Kuznik of Jaycox Disposal of Costa
Mesa, Inc. were introduced to the Board.
Trash Acting Manager Roeder invited Raul Rangel to address the
Haulers Board on the circumstances leading to the strike by the
Strike trash haulers and the negotiations to date. Mr. Rangel
complied and answered questions by the Directors.
Mr. Rangel stated that starting next Monday, May 1, 1978,
whether the strike is settled or not, trash will be
picked up on regular pickup days.
Resolution
Director Hutchison made a motion that Resolution 78 -320
No. 78 -320
being A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE COSTA
MESA SANITARY DISTRICT, ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY AND AUTHORIZING THE IMMEDIATE EXPENDITURE
OF PUBLIC FUNDS, be adopted. This motion was seconded by
Director Briggs, and carried by the following roll call
vote:
AYES: Directors - Crank, Hutchison,.Briggs, Rima
NOES: Directors - None
ABSENT: Directors - Glockner
Emergency
Trash bags will be purchased and offered to residents of
Expenditures
the Sanitary District. An ad will be placed in the Orange
Coast Daily Pilot instructing the public where to pick up
trash bags. A full accounting will be given to the Board
of expenditures made in this emergency and how they will
be handled by the City of Costa Mesa, the Costa Mesa
Sanitary District.
Adjournment
Upon motion by Director Briggs, seconded by Director
Hutchison, and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned
at 5:57 p.m.
