Employees are eligible to receive a monetary reward up to $1,000 for ideas that generate significant savings to the organization . S ta ff Recommendation That the Board of Directors approves rewarding District em ployee Noelani Middenway $500 for her suggestion to save over $13,000 annually on printing costs. Analysis On February 8, 2013, Noelani Middenway, District Deputy Clerk, submitted a suggestion to reduce the cost for printing a master agenda packet as well as increasing internal accountability and improving the efficiencies for preparin g agenda packets. Attachment “A” is a copy of Ms. Middenway’s suggestion. Total annual savings to the District is estimated at $13,638 . The suggestion was reviewed by the Administrative Services Manager and the Interim Accounting Manager and both concur that Ms. Middenway’s suggestion will benefit the organization. Strategic Plan Element & Goal This item complies wi t h the objective and strategy of Strategic Element 5.0, Administrative Management , which states the following: Board of Directors February 27, 2013 Page 2 of 2 5.0 Administrative Manag ement Objective: To create, maintain and implement policies and procedures to ensure sound management of the District. Strategy: We will conduct periodic reviews, refine and implement policies and procedures, and assure the General Manager has the direc tion and tools necessary for successful District operations. Legal Review Not applicable Financial Review The reward is for $1 ,000.00. There is sufficient money in the Rewarding Ideas Program budget to approve this award. Committee Recommendation Not applicable Public Notice Process Copies of this report are on file and will be included with the entire agenda packet for the February 27 , 201 3 Board of Directors regular meeting at District Headquarters and on District’s website. Alternative Actions 1. Ap prove a lessor reward amount to District employee Noelani Middenway. 2. Do not approve the reward.
