RE PROPOSAL TO BEGIN DESIGN PHASE
PROJECT 1112100-128 MESA/BIRCH SEWER REALIGNMENT
Gentlemen
As part of the Orange County Development Agency s redevelopment
of the Santa Ana Heights area the County has plans to realign
Mesa Drive and Birch Street to facilitate traffic flow Included
in the scope of work is the realignment of the exist ng CMSD
sewer lines in Mesa and Birch
The OCDA has requested by letter that the Sanitary District
prepare the new sewer plans for inclusion in the construction
contract for the new street work The OCDA will reimburse the
Sanitary District for all design costs plus will fund the
construction costs as part of the redevelopment An agreement
from the County covering these items is forthcoming
Included in the design of the realigned sewer is the upsizing of
the line in Mesa Drive to accomodate the new zoning for the Santa
Ana Heights area The increase in line size is shown in the CMSD
Santa Ana Heights Sewer Study and is confirmed by a County
initiated utility study performed by BSI Engineering In
accordance with the CMSD study this line plus the remaining lines
flowing in this direction will remain under CMSD ownership even
if Newport Beach annexes the Santa Ana Heights area (The sewer
lines in the Santa Ana Heights area flowing towards Bristol
Street will upon annexation by Newport Beach become owned and
maintained by Newport Beach )
Therefore it is proposed to complete the design phase on an
hourly basis at the following rates with a not to exceed total of
$12 500
Engineer $55 00/hr
Draftsman $44 00/hr
Surveyor (2 man crew) $145 00/hr
Surveyor (3 man crew) $165 00/hr
