Re: Utility Improvements at 1591/1621/1641/1671 Indus, Costa Mesa
Based upon site visit and recent experience, we propose to:
1591 Indus
1 Raise manhole at west property line to 1 above grade-approx. 30' Add a gravity
block type retaining wall to support the slope side.
2. Excavate in the yard to locate and raise to grade the manhole that is buried.
Manhole is believed to be 9' 10' below grade. Repair any damage to the sod.
SUBTOTAL FOR 1591 $8,800
1621 Indus
3 Remove the large tree next to the manhole.
4 Raise the manhole to 12' above grade approx.3'
SUBTOTAL FOR 1621 $3,400
1641 Indus
5 Raise manhole to 12' above grade near the rear wall-approx. 20'
SUBTOTAL FOR 1641 $600
1671 Indus
6. Cut roots and raise manhole to 12' above grade-approx. 4'
7 Add a gravity block type retaining wall to support the slope side.
SUBTOTAL FOR 1671 $2,100
Note: The buried manhole at 1591 Indus (item #2 above) will be raised using 48'
manhole sections. All other manholes will be raised using 24" grade rings.

SUBJECT UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS AT 1591/ 1621/ 1641/1671 INDUS, COSTA MESA
1. CMSD Operations Code Section 4.05.020 (b) (i) for Public Works contracts Under$15,000 and
Related Services: The Manager/District Engineer shall use his best efforts to have the work
done in the3 best interests of the District. The District Engineer and Staff requested quotes
from four potential contractors: John Dickens, Manhole Adjusters, EBS and Mike Kilbride—Only
Mike Kilbride responded with a quote of$14,900.
2. CMSD Operations Code Section 4.05.020 (b) (ii) states the Manager/District Engineer shall
report at the next regular Board meeting or as soon as practical,the work was authorized and
on efforts to secure a favorable price for the District.
3. Mike Kilbride is selected for the work at$14,900 and the District Engineer is scheduled to report
the effort at the 2 25-10 Board Meeting.
