Reso 2008-747RESOLUTION NO. 2008 -747 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE COSTA MESA SANITARY DISTRICT ESTABLISHING A REGIONAL RECYCLING AND WASTE DIVERSION GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the County of Orange has established the Regional Recycling and Waste Diversion Grant Program.. WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Sanitary District, has been allocated $20,000 for the implementation of recycling and waste diversion programs or activities. WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Sanitary District, has agreed to partner with the City of Costa Mesa for the purpose of using the grant funds to provide the residents of Costa Mesa with recycling opportunities. WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Sanitary District agrees to use these funds for new or significantly expanded programs or activities to enhance recycling efforts and divert materials from Orange County landfills and agrees to all of the stated terms and conditions outlined in the Regional Recycling and Waste Diversion Grant Program documents. WHEREAS, the Costa Mesa Sanitary District intends to utilize these funds for recycling education and collection programs for the recycling of various materials including electronic waste, universal waste and construction and deconstruction waste. NOW, THEREORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Costa Mesa Sanitary District Board of Directors authorizes the submittal of grant applications to the County of Orange Integrated Waste Management Department for all available grants under the AB 939 Regional Recycling and Waste Diversion Grant Program for a period of six fiscal years beginning July 1, 2007. The Manager /District Engineer, or his designee, is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District all necessary applications, contracts, agreements, amendments and payment requests hereto for the purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application. The Costa Mesa Sanitary District recognizes the opportunity the County of Orange. has provided through this grant program and commends the County for it regional leadership in solid waste management and recycling and waste diversion activities throughout Orange County. 1 I PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District at a regular meeting thereof held on the 24th day of January 2008.
