Scavenging : In the m onth of February, there was one c all made to the District HQs to report scavenging activity . A resident living in the 130 block of Broadway called to report a scavenger who frequ ents the area at any given time of the day. This particular area is scheduled for trash service on Tuesdays. I have patrolled and cased out the area, but I have not observed any scavenging yet. I will continue to monitor the area. There were no citations issued for the month of Febru ary . Below, are several incidents I observed directly; the majority of the scavenging incidents listed below were not individuals who are trying to make a business from recycling materials. Trash Container Enforcement : In the month of February , there were four complaints that came into th e District HQ to report addresses that leave their trash bins (t/b) in public sight (p/s). I made a site visit to the following addresses: 1972 Kornat Dr – Found no t/b in p/s 334 Joann St – Tagged w/ a courtesy notice. 2451 ½ Elden Ave – Party advised and will comply. 2110 & 2113 Continental Ave – Party advised and will comply. I will co ntinue to monitor the above address es as well as previous complaints to ensure compliance and take any further action if necessary. A summary of the courtesy notice process for the District OEO is provided in the following chart and demonstrates the effectiveness of a “1 st N otice”: February 1 -28 , 2013 1 st Notice 2 nd Notice Courtesy Letter South of Wilson St. 2 0 0 Wilson St. to Adams Ave. 0 0 0 Adams Ave. to Sun flower Ave. 1 0 0 Trash Containers in Alley Pilot Program: For a lley pilot #3 , we choose to go with a slightly bigger alley on the eastside that runs down the middle of the 400 Blk of Magnolia St and the 400 Blk of E. 18 th St. The area consist of approxi mately 40 homes, and they al l are serviced for trash pickup down the alley. I will be reporting results of phase #3 in the month of April.
