Subject: Alternate Bid for Fairview Park Sewer Line
Dear Rob
The Costa Mesa Sanitary District (CMSD) has recently opened bids and
awarded a contract for the installation of a main sewer line to serve Fairview
Park on both sides of Placentia Avenue north of Estancia High School. The bid
documents also contained a proposed additive alternate to construct a lateral
line on the west side of Placentia Avenue, extending northerly from CMSD's
proposed main line for approximately 1 100 feet. The apparent low bidder for
this item of work submitted a cost of $43 587 00
Please be advised that the City of Costa Mesa hereby requests and authorizes
the CMSD to install the alternative sewer lateral, as shown on CMSD's Fairview
Park Sewer Plans, Project No 1112100-160 at the cost indicated above The
City will pay for the cost of the lateral and is currently processing a purchase
order to the CMSD in the amount of $43 587 00 Any increase in the cost of the
subject lateral during construction must be approved by Dave Alkema, Project
Manager for Fairview Park (714-754-5304) prior to the start of any extra work.
An inspector from the City's Building Department will be assisting the District's
inspector in reviewing the installation of the sewer lateral, since it will ultimately
be owned by the City Please contact Bill Nunes Chief Plumbing and
Mechanical Inspector for the City (714-754-5629) 24 hours prior to the start of
any work on the sewer lateral.
