CMSD #168 Irvine Pumping Station Relocation Proposal to Provide Construction Inspection Services Dear Board Members. The construction of the new Irvine Pumping Station represents the largest capital improvement project undertaken by the Costa Mesa Sanitary District with a construction cost of over $1 7 million The new pumping station will be constructed over a three month period beginning August 1 2007 and will be completed prior to the County of Orange construction of the Irvine Avenue widening project. The relocation of the pumping station was necessitated by the road widening project. Agencies owning pipelines and other facilities in a street must bear the relocation costs when the road is realigned. The successful construction and long life expectancy of the pumping station is based mainly on two factors the contractor's ability and continuous inspection and engineering provided by the District. There are significant amounts of shop drawing review and other engineering requirements inherent in pumping station construction. Therefore the following proposal is submitted and is an hourly proposal based on a maximum number of possible hours. Engineering 24 weeks x 16 hrs/week x $ 85/hr = $32,640 Surveying 20 hrs x $220/hr = $ 4 400 Inspection 75 days x 8 hrs/day x $60 00/hr = $36,000 TOTAL $73 040 It should be noted that the above services are usually budgeted at 10% of the construction costs, which in this case is 10% of $1 7 million or $170 000 The above budget is a maximum and billing will only be for actual time worked Thank you Sincerely ROBIN B HAMERS Registered Civil Engineer RCE 31720
