GENERAL NOTES
1.ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO THE COSTA MESA SANITARY DISTRICT'S "STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION OF SANITARY SEWERS" AS LAST REVISED, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED ON THE PLANS OR BY PROJECT
SPECIFICATIONS.
2.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT TO THE DISTRICT A DETAILED CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE WITHIN FIVE DAYS AFTER AWARD
OF CONTRACT AND NOTICE TO PROCEED BY THE DISTRICT. THE CONTRACTOR WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BEGIN
CONSTRUCTION UNTIL AFTER A PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING AND THE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE IS APPROVED BY THE
DISTRICT.
3.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE A COPY OF THE APPROVED CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND THE CMSD STANDARD PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS ON THE JOB SITE AT ALL TIMES.
4.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REQUEST INSPECTION FROM OFFICE OF THE DISTRICT ENGINEER AT (949)548-1192 AT LEAST TWO
WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION. NO FACILITIES SHALL BE BACKFILLED UNTIL OBSERVED BY THE
DISTRICT INSPECTOR. ANY WORK PERFORMED WITHOUT INSPECTION FROM THE DISTRICT SHALL BE CONSIDERED
UNACCEPTABLE.
5.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL NECESSARY PERMITS REQUIRED BY THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
AND OTHER LOCAL GOVERNING AGENCIES.
6.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMPLEMENT A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN FOR CONSTRUCTION AREAS IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE
WORK AREA TRAFFIC CONTROL HANDBOOK (WATCH) AND APPROVED CITY OF COSTA MESA AND/OR CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
ENCROACHMENT PERMITS.
7.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY TO CONSTRUCTION WORK HOURS AS DEFINED ON THE CITY APPROVED ENCROACHMENT
PERMIT.
8.AT THE END OF EACH WORKING DAY AND AT THE TIMES WHEN CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS ARE SUSPENDED FOR ANY REASON,
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL EQUIPMENT, VEHICLES, MATERIAL, TRAFFIC CONTROL, STOCKPILE OR ANY OTHER FORM
OF OBSTRUCTION FROM THE STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY.
9.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN THE WORK AREAS IN A NEAT, SAFE, CLEAN, AND SANITARY CONDITION AT ALL TIMES AND
TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE DISTRICT. STREETS SHALL BE KEPT CLEAN OF DEBRIS, DUST, AND OTHER NUISANCE AT ALL
TIMES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CLEAN-UP OF ADJACENT STREETS AFFECTED BY CONSTRUCTION.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE A VACUUM/BRUSH TYPE SWEEPER ON THE JOB SITE AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION.
10.ALL PAVEMENT REMOVAL NECESSARY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT SHALL BE SAW CUT PRIOR TO REMOVAL AND
REPLACED IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE DISTRICT. DISPOSAL
OF REMOVED PAVEMENT SHALL BE AT AN APPROVED DUMP SITE.
11.ALL CONCRETE DRIVEWAYS, SIDEWALKS OR CURBS TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED SHALL BE SAWCUT TO THE NEAREST
TRANSVERSE SCORE MARK OR ADJUSTABLE CONTROL JOINT OR WEAKENED PLANE JOINT AND REPLACED IN CONFORMANCE
WITH THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE DISTRICT.
12.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR AND RESTORE EXISTING LANDSCAPE AND SURFACE IMPROVEMENTS TO ORIGINAL CONDITION
TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE DISTRICT.
13.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DISPOSAL OF EXCESS MATERIAL NOT USED DURING CONSTRUCTION AT AN
APPROVED DUMP SITE.
14.ALL TRENCHING AND/OR SHORING SHALL MEET REQUIREMENTS OF CAL-OSHA. GROUNDWATER MAY BE PRESENT DURING
CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROPOSED FACILITIES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPARATION OF A
DE-WATERING PLAN IN CONFORMANCE WITH ALL REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD REQUIREMENTS.
15.AT THE END OF EACH WORK DAY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EITHER BACKFILL USING TEMPORARY PAVEMENT OR STEEL PLATE
ALL EXCAVATIONS WITHIN STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY SO ALL LANES OF TRAFFIC CAN BE OPENED. STEEL PLATES SHALL HAVE
NON-SKID SURFACE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RECESS STEEL PLATES ON TOP OF MILLED SURFACE SO PLATES ARE FLUSH WITH
EXISTING SURFACE. STEEL PLATES SHALL BE INSTALLED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE DISTRICT AND CITY INSPECTORS.
16.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY UNDERGROUND SERVICE ALERT AT LEAST 72 HOURS BEFORE BEGINNING ANY CONSTRUCTION
WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE DISTRICT A COPY OF THE USA TICKET.
17.EXISTING BENCHMARK/MONUMENT: ANY BENCHMARK OR MONUMENT WHICH IS DISTURBED OR DESTROYED DURING
CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REESTABLISHED AND REPLACED BY A STATE OF CALIFORNIA CIVIL ENGINEER REGISTERED PRIOR TO
DECEMBER 31, 1981 OR A LICENSED LAND SURVEYOR.
18.EXISTING UTILITIES AND STRUCTURES VERIFICATION: THE EXISTENCE AND LOCATION OF ANY EXISTING UTILITIES AND
STRUCTURES SHOWN ON THESE PLANS ARE APPROXIMATE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY THE LOCATIONS AND
ELEVATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES AND STRUCTURES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL CARE AND PRECAUTIONARY
MEASURES TO PROTECT THE UTILITIES SHOWN, AND ANY OTHER LINES AND STRUCTURES NOT SHOWN ON THESE PLANS, AND IS
RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROTECTION OF, AND ANY DAMAGE TO THOSE LINES AND STRUCTURES. ALL COST OF POTHOLING AND
EXPOSING SHALL BE BORNE BY THE CONTRACTOR.
19.UTILITIES CONFLICT: IF THE EXISTING UTILITIES OR STRUCTURES DIFFER FROM THOSE SHOWN ON THE PLANS AND THERE IS A
CONFLICT WITH THE PROPOSED FACILITIES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE DISTRICT IN WRITING IMMEDIATELY TO
DETERMINE THE DESIGN CHANGES OR RELOCATIONS REQUIRED TO ELIMINATE THE CONFLICT.
20.OVERHEAD ELECTRIC/UTILITY LINES: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH REQUIREMENTS OF CAL-OSHA, PUBLIC UTILITIES,
AND OTHER LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES FOR ALL WORK NEAR OVERHEAD ELECTRIC AND UTILITY LINES.
21.ALL PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED AROUND THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE LOCATION OF ALL EXISTING
UTILITIES AS WELL AS THE EXISTING SEWER FACILITIES ARE AS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S
RESPONSIBILITY TO EXPOSE ALL PIPELINES INVOLVED IN CONSTRUCTION TO VERIFY THE LOCATION, ELEVATION, AND PIPE
MATERIALS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS IN THE
FIELD BASED UPON ACTUAL FIELD CONDITIONS IN A MANNER ACCEPTABLE TO THE DISTRICT.

PROVIDE ONE 34" EMT CONDUIT WITH TWO (2) #12 THHN WITH #12 GROUND, PROVIDE ONE 1" EMT CONDUIT
WITH THREE (3) #12 THHN (BLACK, RED, WHITE) AND ONE (1) #12 GROUND, PROVIDE ONE 12" EMT CONDUIT WITH
TWO (2) #12 THHN & ONE (1) #12 GROUND FROM SUB PANEL TO PVC CONDUIT WITH LOCKABLE RECEPTACLE.

REMOVE EXISTING FUSIBLE SAFETY SWITCH AND REPLACE WITH CUTLER HAMMER/EATON DH 363 FRK, 100AMP,
NEMA 3R SAFETY SWITCH, OR EQUAL. PROVIDE TWO (2) SET OF 60AMP FUSE (ONE SPARE SET TO DISTRICT).
INSTALL TWO (2) #4 WIRE & ONE #4 GROUND TO NEW SAFETY SWITCH.
REPLACE EXISTING SUB PANEL WITH NEW 60AMP SUB PANEL WITH 8 SLOTS (MINIMUM), TERMINATE EXISTING
WIRES AS REQUIRED.
INSTALL LOCKABLE DUPLEX RECEPTACLE.
REMOVE THREE (3) #10 & THREE #14 CONDUCTORS AND REPLACE WITH THREE (3) #4 THHN (BLACK, RED, WHITE),
