A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE COSTA MESA
SANITARY DISTRICT REVISING AND ADOPTING A LANG- STANDING
POLICY OF THE BOARD RELATING TO APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS OF
THE BOARD AND REPRESENTATIVES AND ALTERNATES TO THE COUNTY
SANITATION DISTRICT BOARDS.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE COSTA MESA SANITARY DISTRICT OF ORANGE COUNTY,
CALIFORNIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Sanitary District Act of 1923 is silent on elections except at
the time of the formation of the district; and
WHEREAS, the District is required to follow the Uniform District Election
Law in seating new directors at noon on the first Friday in December after the
election; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide for election of officers to.conduct the
meetings and other business of the Board and to appoint representatives to County
Sanitation District Boards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
THAT newly elected members to the Board be given the oath and seated. as
directors at a special meeting to be conducted at noon on the first Friday in
December as required by the Uniform District Election Law;
THAT at the first regular meeting after the special meeting on the first
Friday in December, the Board shall conduct its own election for the offices of
President, Vice President, Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the Board to serve
in those capacities until the first regular meeting following the special meeting
of the first Friday in December after the next District election;
THAT at the first regular meeting after the special meeting of the first
Friday in December following the election of Board members, the President of the
Board with the concurrence of a majority of the Board shall appoint representatives
and alternates to County Sanitation Districts 1, 6 and 7 who will serve for a like
period as the officers of the District;
THAT any Board member upon majority vote of the Board of Directors may be
appointed representative to more than one of the Sanitation Districts' Boards and
shall serve said dual appointments, if any, concurrently for a like period as the
officers of the District;
THAT the appointment of representatives and alternates to County Sanitation
Districts 1, 6 and 7 may be reconsidered from time to time, either upon majority
vote of the Board of Directors or upon request of any appointed representative or
alternate to be relieved fran the obligation of the appointment.
