RESOLUTION NO. 91-496
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
COSTA MESA SANITARY DISTRICT COMMENDING THE MESA
CONSOLIDATED WATER DISTRICT FOR EFFORTS IN THE
CONSERVATION OF WATER BY DOMESTIC WATER USERS;
AND SUPPORTING THEIR EFFORTS TO CONSTRUCT A NEW
RESERVOIR IN EAST COSTA MESA.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE COSTA MESA SANITARY DISTRICT DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: That
WHEREAS, the Mesa Consolidated Water District has recognized drought and its effect on
the current California water supply and the need for conservation and additional water storage by water
users; and
WHEREAS; the Mesa Consolidated Water District has taken definitive action to.promote
public awareness of the depleting water supply and recognizes the need for local communities to plan for
local water storage; and
WHEREAS, the Mesa Consolidated Water District has. identified the need for additional water
storage in its 1984 Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, MESA is developing local water supplies to provide higher quality and lower cost
water, and reservoirs are a critical component of the system to accomplish this task; and
WHEREAS, the Mesa Consolidated Water District currently has a half -day water storage
within the District's service area, and seven -day storage capacity is a recommended industry standard;
and
WHEREAS, a 20- million gallon reservoir is planned for the southeast area of Costa Mesa and
will triple the District's water storage capacity, and is vital to the entire community;
NO W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Costa Mesa .Sanitary. District commends
the Mesa Consolidated Water District for its ongoing efforts in conservation of water by domestic water
users; and construction of a 20- million gallon reservoir in East Costa Mesa at the Lindbergh School site;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution duly enrolled be forwarded to
Mesa Consolidated Water District;
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that .a copy o f this Resolution be made a part of the permanent.
archives of the District.
