A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE COSTA MESA SANITARY
DISTRICT REQUIRING THE ELEC'T'ION OF ITS GOVERNING BODY TO BE
HELD ON THE SAME DAY AS THE STATE-WIDE GENERAL ELECTION; CON -
SENTING TO THE PROCEDURAL REQUIRaENTS OF THE ELECTIONS CODE
PERTAINING TO GENERAL ELECTIONS; SETTING FORTH DATES AFFECTED
BY SAID (MANGE; AMID STATING REASONS THEREFOR.
THE BOARD OF DIRECTCORS OF THE COSTA MESA SANITARY DISTRICT DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
THAT, WHEREAS the Legislature passed and adopted Assembly Bill 2737
signed into law by the Governor June 25, 1986 as Chapter 188; and
WHEREAS, said enactment added Section 23302.1 to the Elections Code
providing for a special district to elect.a change in date of the election
of its governing board from the first Tuesday after the first Monday in
November of odd numbered years to the first Tuesday after the first Monday
in November of even numbered years, all as provided for in the Elections
Code establishing election date; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District
believes that a change in election date will effect a savings of funds
expended in connection with elections on odd numbered years, which said
funds may be better used to serve the purposes for which the District
was formed; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District
believes it to be in the best interest of the District and the people living
within the District which it serves to change the election date of its
Governing Board to the same day as the state -wide general election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the election of the Governing
Board of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District be held on the same day as the
state -wide general election in November of even numbered years; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Costa Mesa Sanitary District consents
to be governed by the Elections Code as it affects districts respecting
naninations, filings, notices, canvass of votes, certification of election
and all other procedural requirements of the Elections Code pertaining to
general elections; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any Board member whose term would have
expired in November of 1987 continue in office until November of 1988
until his successor is elected and qualified or until said Board member is
re- elected and qualified; and
BE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution, duly certified
by the Board Secretary, be submitted to the Board of Supervisors for Orange
County, all as required by SEction 23302.1(b), Elections Code, within the
deadline established therein; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be effective for the
state -wide general election for 1988 and all subsequent elections of the
GOverning Board of , the Costa Mesa Sanitary District unless and until this
Resolution is repealed as provided for in Section 23302.1(d), Elections Code.
