I. CMSD # 175 - OCSD Cooperative Projects Grant — Televising Sewer Lines
Rob reported National Plant Services has signed the agreement to perform the
televising and Rob will be preparing a new schedule.
11. Miscellaneous Work
The committee discussed the miscellaneous work required at a few of the pumping
stations: A new PVC vent pipe is needed at the Elden Pumping Station, the vent pipe
should be moved to the back of sidewalk at the Harbor Pumping Station, and new
wet well doors are needed at the Victoria Pumping Station and the Canyon Pumping
Station. Rob will make arrangements with Schuler Engineering to make the repairs.
Schuler Engineering will also be reconfiguring the Westbluff Pumping Station valve
vault to accommodate the new force main being constructed by the adjacent
development.
III. Construction Checklist
Paul recommended the District have a checklist so contractors would have a clear
understanding of the requirements needed prior to beginning construction. The
committee agreed with the recommendation and the items on the checklist were
discussed. Rob will prepare a draft checklist for review and Joan will print upon
completion.
IV. CMSD Sewer Spills to date •
Tom provided his matrix of sewers spills to date for 2005. The District has had only
two sewer main spills since January 1, 2005.
V. Tailgate Meetings and Field Crew Safety
Tom will continue holding the monthly tailgate meetings with the field crews.
VI. Pumping Station Security
At the previous Safety Committee meeting, Joe reported that four of the stations have
no lock on the access door to the wet well due to the lock mechanism having
deteriorated from the sewer gas atmosphere. Gerry followed up and installed the
locks.
VII. Code of Safe Practices
SDRMA recommends the member agencies adopt a Code of Safe Practices for all
work performed by the staff members of the agency. Tom proposed additional
categories to cover sewer cleaning and pump station maintenance.
VIII. Project Updates •
Paul reviewed the Project #168 Phase I completion of the gravity sewer mains in the
intersection of Irvine Avenue and Mesa Drive. IRWD will be performing additional
water line construction in Anniversary Lane and Riverside Drive and Paul, Joe, and
Rob are insuring there is proper separation between the water line and the existing
CMSD sewer lines.
IX. Sewer Cleaning Crews
Gerry noted that the cleaning crews are cleaning the City storm drains system prior to
returning to cleaning sewer crews. The crews are still cleaning hot spots on
Thursdays and Fridays.
Next meeting to be December 6, 2005.
