S-87-2.2CMSD STANDARD SEWER NOTES
1. The sewer system shall conform to the standards of the Costa Mesa
Sanitary District.
2. Contractor shall request inspection from thq office of the
District Engineer 48 hours prior to commencement of work,
Telephone (714) 631 -1731.
3. Any work performed without inspection from the District shall be
considered unacceptable.
4. Contractor shall obtain CMSD sewer permit prior to commencement
of work from the Department of Street and Sanitation, City of
Costa Mesa, 77 Fair Drive. Telephone: (714) 754 -5323.
6. Contractor shall obtain all necessary permits that may be
required by the local governing agency.
6. Contractor to have a copy of approved sewer pian and CASD
Standard Plans and Specifications on lob site at all times.
7. Clay pipe joints shall he Type "G" mechanical compression joints
for mein line sower. Type "D" joints, Band -Seal of approved
equal, are approved for laterals and repair work only.
B. 6' laterals shall be constructed from the after main to every
lot.
t. All laterals shall be placed prior to surfacing of streets.
10. Stamp 'S" on curb at sewer lateral locations.
11. Sewer main shall be air or water tested Heating District
Engineer's approval.
12. Prior to asphalt concrete paving, manhole frames and covers shall
be left 6" below finish grade. After street surfacing is
completed, frames and covers shall be raised to grade per Std.
Dwg. No. S -105.
13. Sewer manhole frame and cover shall be Alhambra Foundry A -1270,
or approved equal. Cover to be stamped "SEWER".
14. Sewer main shall be balled after all manhole frames and covers
have been raised to grade.
15. PVC pipe may be used only with prior approval from the District
Engineer. .
16. If minimum separation distance between sewer and water main is
not met, special construction requirements are to be used per
Std. Dwg. No. S -110 -A or S- 110-B.
17. Developer is responsible for replacing any existing laterals hot
found in field or found to be defective.
18. __ All trench excavation and_pipe_bedding shall be done per

STANDARD WATER CONSTRUCTION MOTES
I. Water mains will be installed according to the latest standards
and specifications of the Mesa Consolidated Water District.
�. Contractor to have on job -site a copy of latest standard
specifications at all times.
Contractor to notify Mesa Consolidated Water District 48 hors
prior to construction (Phone: 714/631 -1291 Office, or
714/754-5398 Inspection Department).
4. Plan check, inspection and engineering FEES will be made prior to
'signature of District Engineer.
6. A performance guarantee bond shall be posted in the amount of 105
of the actual cost of installation or $500.00, whichever is
grecuter. The bond and application /permit fee must be rdceived by
the District prior to the District's final approval of plans
And/or issuance of A.P. All work done under this A.P. shall be
in accordance with District Rules and Regulations and Standard
Specifications.

,QENERAL NOTES FOR STREET AWROVEAE'NT
1. All work and materials within the public right -of -way shall
conform to the City of Costa Mesa Standards, Ordinance
No. , the Conditions of Approval as approved on . ,

2. All work shall be performed and all materials shall be in
accordance with the Standard Specifications for Public Works
Construction, (Green Book) current edition.
3. Contractor shall furnish and install all signs, lights,
barricades, flashing arrow board and any other traffic control or
warning devices, including flagmen, as may be required by the
City Engineer. All items mentioned shall be in conformance with
the current requirements as specified in the latest edition of
the "Construction Safety Orders," and W.A.T.C.H. Failure to do so
will be cited under applicable section of the C.Y.C. and
corrective costs to the City will be charged.
4. Contractor shall obtain Engineering Division permits prior to
Start of any on or off -site construction and /or grading and
request inspection from City Engineering Division 48 hours in
advance of performing any work. Telephone (714) 754 -5323. The
Contractor shall maintain a copy of permits and signed plans on
the job site. _%,.

District, Orange County Sanitation District, and Costa Mesa
Sanitary District for construction of water and sewer
improvements. The contractor shall notify each 48 hours prior to
beginning construction.

10. No work shall be done on adjacent properties or adjacent owners
improvements without obtaining written permission from the owners
of the adjacent properties, and submitting a copy thereof to City
Engineering Division.
11. ' Work within the public right -of -way, once begun, shall be
prosecuted to completion without delay so as to provide minimum
inconvenience to adjacent property owners and the traveling
public.
12. ALL STREET STATIONING REFERS TO THE CENTER LINE OF THE STREET AND
CURB DATA REFERS TO THE FACE OF CURB.
13. The Contractor shall pay for the initial soil and materials tests
and any subsequent soil and materials tests deemed necessary, due
to the failure of the initial tests, as determined by the City
Engineer.
14. The amount of asphalt binder to be mixed with the mineral
aggregate shall be 5.6 percent by dry weight. 4mless otherwise. ;

19. it existing drainage courses on the project must continue to
function, especially during storm conditions, and approved
protective measures and temporary drainage provisions must be
psed to protect adjoining properties during the grading project.
In all cases, the Contractor and /or developer shall be held
liable for any damage due to obstruction of natural drainage
patterns. If the foregoing cannot be complied with, a fully
executed, notarized, and recorded agro m t between the affected
parties will be effected.

the degree necessary to prevent excessive dust. Periodically,

LACFCO and the City of Costa Nese Standard Plans and meet the
approval of the City Engineer.

28. All catch basins shall have horizontal protection ban per LACFCD
Standard Drawing 2D 175.
29. All storm drain manholes shall be left below subgrade. The
Contractor shall raise the manhole frames and covers to finished
grade and make Reeessary repairs to the pavement.

nagement Agency for connection into the existing flood control
channel and for all other work within their jurisdiction.
31. All installation and work affecting Flood Control District
`ties or facilities shall conform with Standard
Specifications and with the provisions of the construction permit
granted by the District. Contractor shall maintain a copy of
